IMBA WILL CONTINUE TO GO GLOBAL

Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew works with Forest Enterprise in the United Kingdom to create key mountain bike parks for UK cyclists. They led two IMBA Trailbuilding Schools as well as several workdays in Wales, Scotland and Wales.

Other cooperative projects will follow these events, linking IMBA and Forest Enterprise with members of the UK’s cycling industry in 2000 and beyond. Paddy Harrop (Development Officer at Forest Enterprises) said that the schools provide land managers and race promoters with the tools they need to create more cyclist-friendly trails throughout the UK.

Trailbuilding Schools and trail-work day attracted land managers, race promotors, and IMBA members representing Wales, Scotland and England. Joey Klein and Kathy Summers, IMBA trailbuilding professionals who will work this year in the U.S. and Canada to build and maintain shared-use and mountain-bike-specific trails, taught the school.

RockShox and IMBA donated trailwork tools to participants and clubs at IMBA’s Trailbuilding Schools in Ae (Scotland) and Coed y Brenin (Wales). These tools will be used for maintaining and building mountain bike trails.

School participants also received instruction on trail design, construction and maintenance. They also evaluated sections of the Ae downhill course in Scotland and the Redbull, Carrimor and Carrimor routes in Coed y Brenin (Wales). The schools had one goal: to teach the participants how to create and maintain trails that are durable and enjoyable to ride.

Founded in 1988 by IMBA, IMBA strives to maintain trails open and in good shape for all. RockShox is IMBA’s No. Since 1996, RockShox has been IMBA’s No. 1 supporter of the bike industry.
